Keep checking in throughout the draft for updates and hot takes to discuss.
Pick 1 - Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
Was this a surprise? No. If there were fans at the draft, the Cincinnati section would be going nuts. This is going to be a slam dunk, especially if they surround him with the right pieces. How could Cincy mess up this pick?
Pick 2 - Washington Redskins
Chase Young, CB, Ohio State
This is a great pick. Young was a total monster at Ohio State was will be going back to the Washington area, and pick a native of the DC area, and a man who played at DeMatha high school, where Dwayne Haskins played as well. Great pick for PR, and hard to miss on.
Pick 3 - Detroit Lions
Jeff Okudah, DB, Ohio State
I honestly expected this pick to be traded, but it never did. Back to back Ohio State picks, and the top three were teammates at one point at Ohio State. This pick is not a surprise as he is a great corner and Matt Patricia, Head Coach in Detroit, is a defensive guy. Okudah is great and can be trusted in today's NFL.
Pick 4- New York Giants
Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
The Giants needed an offensive lineman to help in the passing game for Daniel Jones, and in the run game for Saquon Barkley. He has played both Right and Left Tackle for Georgia, but a bit surprising that they didn't go with a different tackle, but Thomas has great character and can be a great locker room guy for a team that moved on from OBJ due to character reasons.
Pick 5 - Miami Dolphins
Tua Tugovailoa, QB, Alabama
This pick surprised me a little, I expected Tua to fall lower due to his injury history. This man is a transcendent talent with a left hand, and the 'Fins need a quarterback, and this has the potential to be a better selection down the road than Joe Burrow in my opinion.
Pick 6 - Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
I'm really liking this pick for the Chargers. Herbert is a great quarterback and stayed an extra year at Oregon to work on his craft, and it shows. This Oregon grown man is now heading down the coast to play in Los Angeles, and with the weapons around him should be able to help this team, and vice versa.
Pick 7 - Carolina Panthers
Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
This is a bit of a puzzling pick and I'm not really sure why they would make this pick, but wanting to get pressure in that division is not a bad thing, especially when you have the worst quarterback in your own division (that is more of a statement on the other quarterbacks than Teddy Bridgewater). This will help the Panthers.
Pick 8 - Arizona Cardinals
Isaiah Simmons, OLB, Clemson
This is a great pick, and a guy who can float all over the defensive backfield at Clemson. Simmons has played in the slot, on the corner, safety and linebacker. He can be a total weapon on the defence and maybe the next defender that every team will want with is build and speed who can go against guys like George Kittle, Russell Wilson, or Lamar Jackson.
Pick 9 - Jacksonville Jaguars
CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
This is a great pick for a team that lost its top corners. Henderson drew the top assignments at Florida, who play in a tough conference. Can he make the leap, I think he will.
Pick 10 - Cleveland Browns
Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama
This is something that the Browns needed to work on. Baker Mayfield was not getting the protection he needed, and now this move will help them protect their franchise quarterback. This should be a home run pick. Wills blocked the blindside for Tua, and will be able to do the same for Baker.
Pick 11 - New York Jets
Makhi Becton, OT, Louisville
A 5.1-second 40-yard dash is quick for a man who is 6'8, 364 lbs. Imagine that running at you. He can be a powerhouse that can block upfront for Le'Veon Bell and protect Sam Darnold (and maybe he can keep the ghosts away too). This is helping the Jets fix their protection issues.
Pick 12 - Las Vegas Raiders
Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
This is a great move for the Raiders, they needed to replace Antonio Brown, remember back to last year when he signed with Gruden's Raiders. This Alabama product is ready to tear up the field against people, and hopefully they have the guy that can get him the ball. This is a great weapon that Gruden can use.
Pick 13 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Via SF via IND) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
A Run on Offensive lineman continues, and now the Bucs have a man to protect TB12. Anytime you take the chance to protect a quarterback like Tom Brady is a smart move. This man is built and athletic. He will be able to make the plays he needs to at this level. Tom will be happy to have this guy.
Pick 14 - San Francisco (Via TB) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
Another Defensive tackle for this defence seems a little excessive for this squad. They already have a dominant front to their defence, but did lose some pieces. This is a little puzzling, but could work anyway.
Pick 15 - Denver Broncos
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Drew Lock is getting a great weapon in Jerry Jeudy. After losing Emmanuel Sanders this past year, the Broncos can use a versatile playmaker in their receiving core that can play any position. They got this right in my opinion.
Pick 16 - Atlanta Falcons
A.J. Terrell, CB, Clemson
With weapons lining up opposite the Falcons defence six times a year, they need to find someone to stop them. Terrell can be that guy, and he has a championship pedigree. He has the talent and should be able to contribute right away.
Pick 17 - Dallas Cowboys
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Lamb won't be going far from where he played his college ball, just jumping over one state line. Lamb is another hot playmaker that can add to an already stout group of playmakers. Dallas may now have a big 4 to rely on offence, and with a new guy in there, they should be able to be better already.
Pick 18 - Miami Dolphins (via PIT)
Austin Jackson, T, USC
With having taken Tua earlier this round, this was almost a must. With Tua's health being questionable, protecting him should be a priority for the Dolphins, as this is their quarterback of the future. Are the 'Fins going to be able to turn this team back to its glory days? This should help.
Pick 19 - Las Vegas Raiders (via CHI)
Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State
Las Vegas needs a good cornerback to be able to compete in the AFC West. They need to find ways to stop opponent weapons in order for their weapons to be effective.
Pick 20 - Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR)
K'Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU
Chaisson is a need that Jacksonville has, a pass rusher, as they lost their big-name rusher this offseason to free agency. Chaisson may not have the skill, but has the potential, only time will tell.
Pick 21 - Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Reagor, WR, Texas Christian University
Philly has found a weapon that can help them break out of their TE only slump. Their offence needs to find some ways to break out of that trend, and Reagor can be that guy, he can score from anywhere and is dangerous to get any ball. Watch out.
Pick 22 - Minnesota Vikings (via BUF)
Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
After losing their number one receiver Steffon Diggs, they needed to find the man to replace their top 2 receivers. This is a reliable route runner which should help the unreliable Kirk Cousins, and a nice partner for Thielen.
Pick 23 - Los Angeles Chargers (via NE) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
The Chargers have hopefully found a man to line up opposite Bosa. Murray can go sideline-to-sideline and is one of the best athletes on the field. He doesn't have much experience rushing the passer, but hopefully he can pick it up from his teammate Bosa.
Pick 24 - New Orleans Saints
Cesar Ruiz, OL, Michigan
Is it ever a bad idea to bolster one's offensive line when you have a future hall of fame and an all-time great quarterback? I say nay. It looks like this is what the Saints have done. Ruiz needs some work, but that something that the Saints can do, they've been doing it for years under Payton.
Pick 25 - San Francisco 49ers (via MIN) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State
The 49ers needed to find a receiver to slot in where Sanders played, and Aiyuk can be that man. He is explosive and can return kicks for the Niners. He needs to mature as a receiver, but can find it with this team. Good spot for the player to be.
Pick 26 - Green Bay Packers (Via MIA via HOU) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Jordan Love, QB. Utah State
Wow, that is my first thought on this one. Either Green Bay is looking to dump Aaron Rogers soon, or they may have just wasted a trade and a pick. Terrible pick.
Pick 27 - Seattle Seahawks
Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech
Seattle is always looking for that star defender, but Carroll may be reaching with this one. Brooks has shown flashes, but will that translate to the next level, and if not, will Carroll shape him into what he needs to be?
Pick 28 - Baltimore Ravens
Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
This team knows how to draft, and I'm assuming they got who they wanted (look up how they got Lamar to see how good they are at drafting). This is a great pick and fills a hole that the team had. This defence keeps getting better, like they always do.
Pick 29 - Tennessee Titans
Isaiah Wilson, OL, Georgia
Wilson isn't quick, but can move well for a man his size. Tennessee can afford to build up that line and need to if they want to keep their star quarterback on his feet. This makes sense, protect the goods that you just paid a pretty penny for.
Pick 30 - Miami Dolphins (Via GB) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Noah Igbinoghene, CB, Auburn
Igbinoghene has not played corner long, but based on where he is after only playing the position for a year, he can make noise. He is physical and has the size to do it. He is slightly undersized, but can most likely get it done. Watch out for him.
Pick 31 - Minnesota Vikings (Via SF) (DRAFT DAY TRADE)
Jeff Gladney, CB, Texas Christian University
This is another physical corner, but not with the same size, slightly underweight, Gladney doesn't have the advantage outside, but that can be changed, even before the season. I don't expect him to start right away, but to play a big role in slot packages.
Pick 32 - Kansas City Chiefs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU
I asked myself before this pick: "what does KC need?" I answered myself: "a running back." That's what they took. Great minds think alike. Edwards-Helaire was a great pick and will be a physical runner that will be a great option for Mahomes and Reid.
